LESTER BUTLER FEATURING '13' - LIVE AT MOULIN BLUES 1998
That's the title of the first-ever release of Lester Butler concert footage on DVD. This is not just some concert, but the last gig Lester ever did.
On May 2, 1998, Lester Butler and his band '13' were the headliners of the 13th (!) edition of the Moulin Blues Festival in The Netherlands. It was an intense show, resulting in a jam session with fellow musicians like James Harman, Paul Size and Joe Louis Walker. When he walked off stage after more than 2 hours, no one could have suspected that it had been his last show ever. One week later, on May 9, Lester died tragically.
He left a deep impression with many people, and he was -and still is- an example and source of inspiration for many musicians.
For all these people and as a tribute to Lester, exactly 10 years later we present this concert registration on DVD, supplemented with some private footage and 3 tracks from his gig with former band The Red Devils at Moulin Blues 1993!
Although these recordings were never made with the intention of publication, we believe that, by releasing this DVD, we respectfully pay homage to Lester and his music. We hope that many people will enjoy it.
